The Central Library's IDEA Lab now brings three previously separate lab functions into one fourth-floor space. A visit can be about making a physical project, converting old personal media or working with specialized digital arts software, depending on the equipment and time reserved.
The city's current schedule lists Monday–Friday hours of 1–5 p.m. and Saturday hours of noon–3 p.m. Appointments are available Monday–Thursday; Friday and Saturday use is walk-in only. The library allows one appointment per person per day, with equipment otherwise first-come. Check the lab page rather than an older brochure that places the lab elsewhere in the building.

For 3D printing, bring an STL file in person during lab hours; email submissions are no longer accepted. Printing is currently free with a three-hour maximum. Other making activities ordinarily require your own materials, and some tools have specific approved-material rules. Ask about those before purchasing supplies or bringing a project to the desk.
Save digital work to your own removable or cloud storage, since lab computers are cleared between sessions. Choose the service that fits your immediate goal and allow a first visit to establish the workflow. Knowing where the file goes, what material is accepted and how long a step takes can make the next project much easier to plan.
